Reason 202: He never won an Emmy for his role as Gregory House.
(Screencap from 4x14 Living the dream- House M.D.)
-Going into the Emmys this year, Laurie is vying for his seventh nomination. Having never won, he is arguably the most overdue to take home the golden girl. On this Shore says, “This is their last chance to do the right thing, he is truly remarkable, this character would not exist without him in that role. I don’t think this show would work with anybody else, I’m very proud of what I’ve done but it would not exist without him … He deserves more than one but all you can get him now is one.”- David Shore.
-25 Emmy nominations House has received, including six Laurie has garnered for outstanding drama actor.-
-“Have fun at the Emmys you beautiful acting creatures. Hugh Laurie has already won the gold in my heart!”- Olivia Wilde (Twitter. 18 Sep 11)
-“Nothing would make me happier than to see Hugh finally win that Emmy.”- Alex Solether. (Twitter. 2011)
-“Is a weird sort of competition, isn’t it? Unless you could get five actors to play the same role. Then you could have a sort of “Ok, I liked number 3, step forward number 3” but…”- Hugh Laurie
-I: Five previous nominations for Hugh Laurie, House is great! What’s going on? Are you expecting something for tonight?
Hugh Laurie: I look at it this way, four quearters make a dollar, so… to me I’ve already done it…
I: You’ve won one really, this (the 5th nomination) is extra…
Hugh Laurie: Exactly, yeah, this is gravy.-
